On August 28, 2019, an introductory seminar was launched in the agricultural town of Dobromysli, Liozno district, on launching the environmental initiative “Creation of a practice-oriented environmental training center in the agro-town of Dobromysli to preserve the unique “Babinovichsky” nature reserve».
The ecological initiative of the Vitebsk regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society in the agricultural town of Dobromysli, Liozno district, is aimed at creation of a system for educating children on safe and environmentally friendly behavior in nature and environmental monitoring in the unique “Babinovichi» reserve/ In order for this training and monitoring system to work, a practice-oriented training environmental center will be created in the agricultural town of Dobromysli, consisting of objects located on the territory of the Dobromyslinsky nursery garden «Yalinka», the Dobromyslinsky secondary school and the Babinovichi reserve.
The system of environmental education, unique to Liozno district, will allow updating and deepening the knowledge of kindergarten pupils and schoolchildren about the species diversity of flora and fauna, participating in the conservation and increase of biodiversity, improving the children’s ability to conduct observations, research in nature and in everyday life, and involving children in environmental monitoring. From an early age, children will get acquainted with various sources of energy, the structure of electricity and water consumption, ways to save them, learn about sources of waste and how to minimize, process and reuse them.
An important feature of the initiative will be its focus on the safe behavior of children and adolescents in nature and the prevention of childhood injuries, as well as a bias towards information and public work to attract an environmentally friendly lifestyle near the Babinovichi wildlife sanctuary (cleaning up unauthorized landfills, informing residents of Liozno district about the need protection of flora and fauna species listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Belarus and fire safety issues).
Participants in the introductory seminar, led by Deputy Chairperson of the Liozno District Executive Committee Dervoed Irina Apolinarovna and Head of the Education Department of the Liozno District Executive Committee, Asiryan Grigory Armaisovich, visited part of the proposed ecological route through the territory of the Babinovichi Reserve, as well as the territory of the school and kindergarten, through which ecological route.
